The size and age of the Cosmos are beyond ordinary human understanding. Lost somewhere between immensity and eternity is our tiny planetary home. In a cosmic perspective, most human concerns seem insignificant, even petty. And yet our species is young and curious and brave and shows much promise. In the last few millennia we have made the most astonishing and unexpected discoveries about the Cosmos and our place within it, explorations that are exhilarating to consider. They remind us that humans have evolved to wonder, that understanding is a joy, that knowledge is prerequisite to survival. I believe our future depends on how well we know this Cosmos in which we float like a mote of dust in the morning sky. . Carl Sagan
About This Quote

Cosmos is a planet in the Solar System, along with its moons. It is also a Roman goddess of wisdom and the Roman personification of earth. She was pictured as an old woman with a headdress of stars on her head. The name means "to surround," from the Ancient Greek κοσμητικός (konSMiKTos), meaning "one who encircles" or "one who has power to bind." In mythology, Saturn is a figure that appears in the Greek, Roman, and other mythologies and religions.

In his earliest forms, he was a sky god associated with reaping and agriculture. In later developments, he was also associated with the Roman god Jupiter as a father-figure. He was known for having a golden sickle at his side to aid him in the harvest of grapes from his vineyard. The modern English word Saturn comes directly from Latin and is cognate with the words saturnine, saturnine, and saturnine.

The word derives from Late Latin *satūrus (“sowing”), from satūre (“to sow”), from PIE *sa-tau-ro- “to grow ripe in an ear of grain, to ripen” (cf. Sanskrit saṃtaraḥ “growing old”). The elemental Samidh in Hindu astrology is symbolized by Saturn and hence he is considered as another name for Sakti in Hindu astrology. Saturn has been known under many different names throughout history and its names include: Saturnus (Latin) / Sakhet (Egyptian) / Sakkuth (Assyrian) / Sata (Sanskrit) / Satariel (Hebrew) / Satariel (Kabbalistic) / Adar (Assyrian), Adar (Hebrew) / Adarsha (Sanskrit) / Adarsha (Kabbalistic), Adarsha Thakurani (Sanskrit).

One legend says that he had been condemned to be devoured by his own sons; but Jupiter rescued him by throwing him down into their midst, where he became an immortal deity. The earliest traces of Saturn are not easy to interpret because they are found in such an early stage of civilization. One story tells how he came to be the ruler of the gods after Zeus overthrew
